Contemporary Furniture is Vastly Different from Antique
Contemporary furniture is a product of the modernist design movement. It is furniture that can be bought in stores or online at sites that offer a variety of choices. Furniture prior to the early 19th century is considered antique furniture and represents a form that had a different emphasis. Typical antique furniture is highly ornamental and richly carved, using woods that we considered of high quality and expensive to incorporate today. Contemporary furniture emerged out of a new attitude toward furniture designs and creative techniques. In addition, they often incorporate new materials that were not seen in antique models. The new looks came to be in the later part of the 19th century, One example of 21st century furniture that is contemporary is green furniture. This type of furniture is specifically created to be environmentally friendly in response to the present environmental concerns. As time goes on new designs will continue to emerge in contemporary styles.
